Will GTR Keep Selling Seeds in 2027?

As the hemp industry prepares for significant changes to federal regulations, we want our growers to know one thing: GTR Seeds fully intends to continue offering our genetics in 2027 and beyond.

With uncertainty surrounding upcoming federal hemp restrictions, many growers are understandably wondering whether they will still be able to purchase seeds for the 2027 growing season.

At GTR Seeds, our position is straightforward. Our seeds are produced from hemp plants grown under established federal compliance requirements, and we believe that this distinction is critically important as the industry navigates the changing regulatory landscape.

Our Seeds Come From Compliant Plants

One of the most important aspects of hemp seed production is understanding how the plants producing those seeds are regulated.

Under USDA hemp production requirements, licensed producers must have their hemp crops sampled within 30 days prior to harvest to determine compliance with federal THC limits.

The mother plants used to produce GTR Seeds genetics were sampled within the required 30-day pre-harvest window as part of our hemp compliance program.

This is not a new practice for us. Regulatory compliance has long been an important part of our breeding and seed production operations.

Our seeds are the product of years of research, development, and carefully managed hemp breeding programs. We have invested millions of dollars into developing genetics that offer growers consistency, performance, and access to a diverse range of cannabinoid profiles.

We take the regulatory requirements governing our production seriously, and we intend to continue doing so. You can find all of our COA's here --->

What Do the New Federal Hemp Restrictions Mean for Seeds?

The upcoming changes to federal hemp law have generated considerable concern throughout the industry, particularly regarding products containing THC and other cannabinoids.

However, it is important to distinguish between finished cannabinoid products, living hemp plants, and seeds intended for cultivation.

Seeds are agricultural inputs, not finished cannabinoid products. Their regulatory treatment involves considerations that differ from those applicable to harvested flower, extracts, and consumable hemp products.

Our position is that seeds produced from properly licensed and compliant hemp crops should remain eligible for lawful commerce, subject to the requirements in effect at the time of sale.

We will continue following legislative developments, agency guidance, and any applicable changes to federal and state law to ensure that our operations remain compliant.

Our Commitment to Growers Remains Unchanged

GTR Seeds and our breeding partners at Oregon CBD have spent years developing some of the most advanced cannabis and hemp genetics available.

Our breeding program includes high-performing CBD, CBG, CBDV, THCV, and other specialty cannabinoid varieties, along with innovative F1 hybrids and triploid genetics.

We have no intention of abandoning that work or the growers who have supported us.

In fact, our breeding program continues to move forward. We are actively developing new genetics, including exciting 1:1 cannabinoid varieties and breeding projects focused on maximizing total cannabinoid yields.

Our goal is to enter 2027 with an even stronger genetic portfolio and continue supplying growers with the high-quality seeds they have come to expect from GTR Seeds.

Looking Ahead to the 2027 Growing Season

We recognize that regulatory uncertainty makes planning difficult for farmers, commercial producers, and home growers alike.

That is why we believe it is important to communicate our intentions clearly.

GTR Seeds fully intends to continue selling seeds in 2027. Our seed production has been conducted under established hemp compliance protocols, including required pre-harvest sampling of the plants used for seed production.

While the legal landscape continues to evolve, we remain optimistic about the future of hemp genetics and confident in the importance of the work we do.

We will adapt to any new requirements, continue advocating for sensible hemp regulations, and keep our customers informed as additional guidance becomes available.

Our commitment to breeding, innovation, and the growers who depend on our genetics is not changing.

We look forward to another productive growing season in 2027.
