How to Make STS for Feminized Cannabis Seed Production

Silver thiosulfate (STS) is an important tool in modern cannabis breeding, allowing breeders to produce feminized seeds without introducing male plants into their breeding programs.

STS works by inhibiting ethylene signaling, which plays a key role in female flower development. When properly applied to genetically female cannabis plants, STS can induce the formation of pollen-producing flowers. That pollen can then be used to pollinate female plants, producing seeds that are overwhelmingly female.

In this video, we explore the process of preparing STS and explain its role in feminized cannabis seed production.

Feminized Cannabis Genetics from GTR Seeds

At GTR Seeds, feminized seed production is just one part of our comprehensive cannabis breeding program. We specialize in developing stable, high-performing F1 hybrid genetics, including CBD, CBG, CBDV, CBGV, THCV, and Type I cannabis varieties. Our breeding efforts combine traditional plant breeding techniques with modern genetic research to deliver consistent, reliable seeds for growers.
