Easy Strains For Home Growers - GTR Seeds

Easy Strains For Home Growers

With over 74% of the US population living in states that allow for either recreational or medical cannabis use, and many countries world-wide following suite with legalization initiative's, it's a great time to start growing your own. From stuffing a few plants in your backyard to a few lights in your closet - growing "weed" is an incredibly fun and rewarding experience.

For those new to cannabis growing, we figured we'd put together a list of the most home grower friendly "strains" we offer. The beans below are all feminized, consistent F1's that take the guess work out of getting a pack of seeds. They will perform.

Generally we never use the word strain because it doesn't actually apply to plants - which are referred to as varieties - but for the sake of continuity, will throw it out there.

Easy to Grow CBD Strains

If you are planning to grow your own smokeable, or simply to make your own salves or tinctures, the strains below can't be beat. Consistent, feminized, and easy to grow.

Lifter - Our gold standard for high CBD biomass growers is also a hugely popular variety for smokeable flower, winning competitions across the country. It is a very large producer with high CBD content, easy to manage structure, and stands up well in humid environments. If planted outdoors it matures in late September. Plant the seed and watch it flourish, this plant makes it easy.

Lifter Seedless - The triploid counterpart to the original is likely the heaviest producing CBD variety on the planet. Huge colas, some of the highest CBD levels in the industry, and a solid frame make this one perfect for anyone trying to get the most out of their limited plant numbers. As a triploid it can remain seed free even in areas with male cannabis pollen flying around. Also excellent for indoor producers. All of our CBD triploids are a blast to grow and fairly easy.

Sour Lifter - With a slightly shorter, bushier stature than Lifter, Sour Lifter is one of our most user friendly varieties. Often our highest CBD producer, great yields, and grows great in dry and wet climates. Sour Lifter finishes about a week earlier than Lifter, generally in mid September which is great for those with a short autumn season. It also boasts a stronger nose than the original Lifter.

Sour Space Candy - If you want to grow the biggest plants on the block, Sour Space Candy is an easy favorite capable of rivaling some of the biggest THC varieties in the market in pure stature and production. Large, dense flowers, a huge stalk, and fantastic aromas and effects. Sour Space Candy is better suited for drier climates because of its dense flowers, but a fantastic first timer plant if you live in a zone where it's generally dry in September.

Suver Haze - For growers in wet climates, none of our varieties stand up to the elements quite like Suver Haze. From Hawaii to Alabama, to Ecuador and Zimbabwe, growers praise its ability to thrive even in the wettest environments without melting into the soil during its flowering cycle. Suver Haze is a solid yielder and boasts some of our highest CBD contents as well.

Easy To Grow CBG Strains

Stem Cell CBG - One of our original CBG strains, Stem Cell still to this day wow's us with its production capabilities and big flowers. It requires little work other than water, soil, and some NPK, and rewards growers with bountiful loads of CBG rich flowers. With mild aromas, Stem Cell is a great option if you have nosey neighbors who don't like the smell of cannabis. Mild flavors make this strain more optimal for CBG rich extracts, tinctures, and salves. If you are in a very humid/wet region, we recommend pulling plants earlier than later as CBG plant health tends to deteriorate at peak maturity.

White CBG - Still to this day the highest content CBG variety on the market and a super fun and easy plant to grow. It remains short statured but very bushy with fantastic yields of high CBG flowers. It is also a very short flowering plant that can be harvested in early September with a June planting in the Northern Hemisphere. Flowers are incredibly frosty and are ideal for both smokeable flower and tinctures, salves, and other extracts. Our in-house CBG favorite and a multi award winner. Keep an eye on it toward the end of flower in moist climates.

White CBG Seedless - This triploid produces stunning crystal covered flowers with much stronger aromas than the original. A great option both indoors and out - and particularly for those trying to get the most out of limited plant counts. Bushy and wide like the original and remains relatively short. Heavy production numbers and easy to trim flowers. Indoor growers LOVE this strain. Also a must try for anyone who wants to try producing home made hasheesh.

Easy To Grow THC Strains

Barnyard High Test - While this plant is easy to grow, it is not easy to contain. If you are limited on space there are better options but if you are looking to grow beastly plant with big buds - it covers all your basis. High THC content, very frosty, and a September finisher than can be brought in long before most THC varieties on the market. The effects of Barnyard are potent. Trellising it if you can. It can be grown even in moist climates with attention during flowering. Great for flower an extracts.

Citrus Slurp - A short, compact plant with aromas that are out of this world. Greasy and grimy citrus terpenes, heavy dense flowers, and a fantastic entourage effect. If you are a backyard grower trying to keep your plants under the fence line this is a perfect option as it remains short, but its big laterals can use some support. Not ideal for wet/moist environments during flower, but in terms of aromas and flavors its among our favorites. Also an excellent option for indoor producers.

Derailed Seedless - While all of our triploid THC strains are fantastic, they are pricey simply because of how much they cost us to make. We were able to produce more Derailed than the others so our pricing reflects it. Incredibly resinous flowers, great cannabinoid content, and a tasty flashback to Trainwreck in modern hybrid form. Stands up well in moist environments but can handle some support if it reaches its growing potentials. All of the triploid THC strains are fairly easy to grow - so pick up the sampler pack if you can't pick one!

NOX Cookies - Another short statured plant with large flowers and heavy production. A perfect indoor variety without much stretch. Heavy flowers may need a little support if you top plants but outdoor growers who leave the plant alone shouldn't have to do anything. High cannabinoid content and fantastic aromas await. Plant health holds up well even in moist climates. Does not require heavy feeding and low maintenance.

Private Party - A perfect mix of compact flowers on a medium statured plant. Solid production numbers, little to no support needed, and far less temperamental than the original Zkittlez. Can be grown in a wide array of climates but if you are in a wet zone its always good to keep an eye on plants in flower. High cannabinoid production, vigorous growth, and perhaps our most user friendly THC strain.

Easy to Grow THCV and CBDV Strains

Double Durban THCV -  We can't wait for more folks to try THCV and Double Durban is a great start! While I like to shy away from using the terms indica and sativa - this plant does fit the Sativa bill very well. It can grow tall and slender, but still produces very nice trimmable flowers. Generally our highest THCV producer and stands up very well in moist and humid environments - even through its relatively long 9-10 weeks of flowering. A fun plant to grow - and will still finish in early to mid October outdoors if planted outside in June.

Forbidden V Seedless - CBDV is showing many promising medical benefits and users love the uplifting clear headed effects! Forbidden V is perhaps the easiest of our lineup to grow and a solid producer. It's exotic tropical fruit aromas keep me sniffing the jars. Plants grow large but generally don't require support, and they can be grown in moist and wet environments without worry. As a triploid it is a bit later finisher - generally early to mid October and 9-10 weeks of flowering time.

Tropicolada 4V Seedless - This incredible 1:1:1:1 produces CBD, CBDV, THC, and THCV and is technically considered a type II strain. Tantalizing tropical aromas, amazing effects, and a really fun plant to grow. This is one of our most unique releases to date. Growers and consumers love it! Plants can grow large with a bit of a stretchy structure so indoor producers should plan to train it. Outdoors it finishes in early to mid-October, or 9-10 weeks indoors.

Easy to Grow Autoflower Strains

Personally, I don't think any autoflowers are that easy to grow. They are temperamental and require fairly careful attention early on, but they can still be really fun for homegrowers. I do recommend reading over our autoflower resource before planting.

Auto Skunk THCV - A great producer for an autoflower with large, skunky buds and plenty of resin. As a 1:1 THCV to THC producer it still packs a punch with all the potential medical benefits of THCV. We love the old school skunk aromas and the flowers are surprisingly large for an auto.

Sour RNA Seedless - This triploid CBD dominant autoflower hit the highest production numbers we've ever seen from an auto - averaging almost 400 grams of flower yield per plant in our trials - with the biggest topping out at 600 grams. We see the biggest increases in triploid vs diploid yields in autos and this one has the potential to crush. A deliciously sour terpene profile and plenty of CBD.

Auto CBG - This strain performs like a standard auto - not a huge yielder or a stunning plant to look at - but if you want to grow some CBG at home it is a fun option. It remains small and squat but still produces fairly large flowers. Some plants put off decent aromas for a CBG strain.
