Grow the Revolution

As you may have noticed, we've done our best to not spend any time on social media the last few years and would encourage you all to do the same. The grass is often greener in real life and we get more done when not engaging with negativity! That said, our power bill isn't free and we've got bills to pay, so please humor us for a moment and consider buying some of our new work.

We just dropped nearly 30 new varieties (with 23 NEW triploids) on GTRSeeds.com. These include the first CBGV-rich lines ever released, aromatically powerful CBG varieties, a house favorite CBDV-rich all-star that will heal many heads, and some of the most powerful type I hybrids to heat the market. Get them before they are gone or they make growing plants illegal.

We are proud of the 11 peer-reviewed journal articles released by Oregon CBD/GTR staff over our first decade in existence, but none as much (or impactful) as the first cannabis pangenome published in Nature last year, in collaboration with the Salk Institute and Oregon State University. Nearly every one of the mothers used to create the new varieties released today were included in the pangenome (shout out to @csi_humboldt2.0 for preserving many legacy Type I plants included).

The cannabis pangenome provides the most complete genetic foundation we’ve ever had for understanding this plant, and we’re excited to contribute freely to work that will accelerate innovation across medicine, agriculture, and industry. The Nature publication highlights the complexity of cannabis genetics, including insights into cannabinoid synthase genes and structural variations that were previously difficult to detect with older sequencing approaches. These findings will support more precise breeding strategies and expand the scientific tools available to the next generation of researchers and breeders worldwide.

We could not have done it without the support of high-minded cannabis growers helping us keep the lights on and the creativity flowering, so thanks to all of you! Get outside and keep making the world a better place.
