The Elephant in the Room

With the latest industry news, it's hard to be jolly. We'll get to that. First some good news.

Our long awaited new genetics and restocks will finally be available in early December. We’ve got dozens of new triploid THC, CBD, and pungently aromatic CBG lines almost ready to hit the dirt.  We will reach out as soon as germination trials are completed.

To clear some shelf space at the farm, we’re offering major discounts - with much of our stock between 25-30% off. We’ve also dropped pricing on many of our previous releases.

What is the deal with hemp in 2026? The short answer is, the wording slipped into the recent federal budget bill is very bad for hemp farmers. Virtually all products minus those produced with CBD or CBG isolate are set to be banned by in mid November of 2026. Thank you Mitch McConnell and Big Alcohol.

However, you can still grow hemp in 2026 and we fully expect the current language to shift in a positive direction. There is too much at stake for patients, consumers, farmers, and the 300,000 jobs this industry supports. The big question is whether it will be in time for planting season.

Importantly, nothing in the bill changes USDA’s federal sampling protocol.

That means flower tested and deemed compliant within 30 days of harvest should continue to qualify as hemp, just as it has for years.

What’s less clear is exactly where and how the end products can be sold under the new framework. With strict restrictions on the amount of THC per “container” its uncertain if even a few grams of CBG flower would be allowed at retail. This cannot stand.

Right now, the most productive thing we can do is make our voices heard as growers. This legislation is economically devastating as written, and the more pressure applied before it takes effect, the better the chance of meaningful revision.

Active Movements Working to Fix or Roll Back the Restrictions

Here are the major efforts already underway across the industry:

Industry-Led Efforts

Trade groups, processors, and several national organizations are filing or preparing legal challenges aimed at halting or overturning the ban before implementation. Here are few groups actively working for change -

Hemp Industry Farmers of America

U.S. Hemp Round Table - Word on the street these guys are siding with big alcohol so make your voices heard loud and clear to them!

Congressional Amendments

A bipartisan set of lawmakers is pushing for targeted amendments to protect farmers and existing supply chains. Rand Paul in particular has been extremely vocal and we think there is certainly potential for change.

State-Level Opposition

A growing number of states are exploring carve-outs, resolutions, or ag-department exemptions for compliant hemp and licensed CBD growers. States like Texas just over turned bans like this - and may not cave in to the Feds. Ohio legislators just voted to continue hemp beverage sales in spite of the upcoming ban.

Ag-Industry Advocacy

Farm Bureau and other mainstream ag organizations are lobbying for revisions that prevent economic harm to farmers and rural communities.

We’ll keep you updated as these efforts develop. At this point, the only direction we can provide for planting in 2026 is keep your eyes and ears on congress.
